A GROUP OF TEN INVITATION / ANNOUNCEMENT CARDS / PROMOTIONAL LEAFLETS FROM THE EARLY DE/COLLAGE PERIOD 1962 - 1969.
The 1960s were important for Vostell's development as an artist - he evolved his work (which began with the Nouvaux Realiste's reworked torn wallposters) towards his own genre 'De/Collage' (a 'found' term it is claimed) - a much more aggressive view of the world as chaotic and tending to distruction. As a result, Vostell was a key theoretician and player in the DIA (Destruction In Art) movement. Vostell's activities later included staging train wrecks and photographing car crashes as well as staging some of Europe's most important public performances and happenings. Offered here are a number of early announcement cards or publicity leaflets  produced by Vostell to promote his journal, the highly significant and multiple-heavy, "De/Collage" .

The group consists of:

DE/COLLAGE
20 x 10cm, 1pp -  announcement sheet advertising the first two issues of Decollage  - typographic design only. Issue one of the journal included artists such as Maciunas and Paik but Vostell was later to alienate Maciunas due to the latter's paranoia that Vostell was trying to "poach" Fluxus artists to his journal and hence his greater influence. Fine.
