Original wrappers - the true first edition of this consideration of the bullfight as insight into societal structures and the resulting literature produced. A key document of French post-structuralism which was reprinted twice - once In 1938 and again much later once Leiris became known more widely outside of surrealism and Bataille's 'Acephale' secret society. One illustration hors texte by Masson. This is one of 70 copies on normandy vellum blanc paper signed by the publisher Guy Levis Mano. Fine although there is minor wear on one internal page and slight browning. Very rare.
