UNTITLED (GIANT POOL TABLE)
Texas: s.p. (Marsh 3), n.d. (1972)
23 x 18cm - unfolds to 46 x 36, 2pp. Brochure and poster as issued by Stanley marsh the Texan millionaire, eccentric  and creator  of the world famous Cadillac Ranch outdoor sculpture. The text explains his fabled "Giant Phantom Soft Pool Table" which he notes as a gift to the world.  Another oddity is that of the Giant Phantom Soft Pool Table, who few have seen. The "pool table" sculpture in reality was (is) a 180 x 70 foot rectangle of dyed green grass complete with 42-inch plastic balls which remains hidden somewhere on his thousands of acres of farm land in Amarillo. Marsh  claims that  "I move it twice a year, on May Day and Halloween, or whenever I feel like it," although in this publication he explains the reasoning behind this "gift" to the world. Recto is a map showing how to find Amarillo and verso the lengthy text as well as a note explaining that they have brought the pool table to ICES 72 and have hidden it somewhere (eg Stonehenge) and move it regularly before "sending it to heaven" by placing the pool table on Mars on April Fools Day 1980 so "it will be the first thing the astronauts find when they arrive.". Fine. An especially entertaining item,
