CONTIMPORANUL No. 63 (4th year)

£375.00

Romanian Avant garde
CONTIMPORANUL. (translates as 'The Contemporary Man') No. 63 (year 4). Edited by Marcel Janco.
Bucharest: Contimporanul, 1925.
24 x 32.5cm. 8pp. 4pp. Six b/w reproductions throughout after works by contemporary Romanian artists including Janco, Petrascu, Jucarii and Daniel. Original self-wrappers. A single number from this most important Romanian avant-garde journal of the 1920s. Co-initiated by Marcel Janco and his long-time editorial collaborator Ion Vinea (in wake of the former's Zurich Dada period and subsequent repatriation). Contimporanul is comparable to De Stijl and L'Esprit Nouveau, as to its manifest. Contributors herein include Aderca, Baltazar, Constin, Linze, Janco, Qvili and Vinea. Minor browning to wrappers, some raggedness to the margins with minor paper loss, else a very good example of that is typically a fragile and rare document.
