Andre Breton

COMMERCE NR XIII

£195.00

Paris: Commerce (Librarie Henri Leclerc), 1927
23.5 x 19cm, 194pp. Original wrappers. A single number of this literary magazine which is notable for the publication of excerpts from Breton's Nadja (24 page as the "premiere partie"; one year in advance of the eventual publication of the key surrealist text!), a text by Benjamin Peret (La Brebis Galante), an essay by Valery Larbaud (le Miroir du cafe Marches) and other texts by Paul Valery (Sur Bossuet) and a poem by Leon-Paul Fargue (L'exil) amongst others including a reprint of Nietzche translated into French. This is one of 2,500 numbered copies on Alfa. Foxed throughout but an uncut copy. A heavy mark to the top left front cover (possibly thin white paint) but otherwise very good. Scarce and notable for the Breton contribution.
