20 x 12.4cm, 68 +1pp. Original pictorial wrappers. First edition of this epic poem written and published during the German occupation in which he made a direct appeal for patriotism and resistance. The title translates as Jan the Violinist the main character of the poem. One tear at bottom of spine and former owner's red rubber stamp impression. Inside the front wrapper is an ex libris label which quotes Tolstoy. The typography was by Kapek. The glued binding is loose and the first few pages are coming away but this is a scarce book in mostly very good condition and repair would be easy.
