Philippe Soupault

LE BON APOTRE. (1923) AUTHOR'S FOURTH BOOK SIGNED + DEDICATED

£275.00

Paris: Sagittaire, 1923.
Small 8vo. 222pp. Printed wrappers. First edition (after 58 numbered examples) of the co-founding Parisian Dadaist's fourth book. With Breton, Soupault composed the landmark automatic opus "Les Champs Magnetiques" (1920), which is considered the first (properly) Surrealist text. "Le Bon
Apotre", beyond his "Aquarium" (1917) is the most elusive Soupault title of the pre-Surrealist period. Title translates (mockingly) as "The Good Apostle". A very good+ example. This copy is dedicated and signed in ink to Georges and Madame Lubin. Rare.
