WITH THE EX LIBRIS OF JOSEF BARTUSKA

SEPIE
Prague: Odeon, 1927
20 x 14.3cm, 62pp. Original wrappers. First edition of these poems with radical typography by Teige (which it has to day does not always work). This copy was owned by Josef Bartuska, the founder of Linie, an avantgarde grouping found in Ceske Budejovice which also included Richard Lander. The innerpage facing the title page has an ex-libris for Bartuska possibly designed by Lander. There are condition issues here - the wrappers have heavy foxing, the spine has paper losses top and bottom and cracks and the pages are lightly browned throughout given the poor quality of the paper, nonetheless a very scarce item with interesting associations. Priced as a balance between scarcity, association and condition.
