THYROS
Prague: Edice 69 (Styrsky), 1932
27 x 21cm, 34pp. Title-page and three full-page textual-images (drawings) by Styrsky. Original wrappers. First edition of this very rare collaboration between the author and artist, as published privately by Styrsky's Surrealist-oriented underground press Edice 69. Composed of an engaging text by Halas and appropriately erotic Surrealist images by Styrsky. One of only 138 examples issued (all published). This copy has been signed in green ink by Halas and then later his name removed deliberately leaving only the dedication " a jest renovan" and a space where the name can still faintly be seen. Edice 69 publications are among the most sought after of the formative period of Surrealism in Czechoslovakia. A close to fine example. Additionally this is one of the du tete large paper copes - number 25 of 30 copies on hollandu Pannekoeck within the larger total limitation of 138 copies. Fine. Rare.
