LE COUP DE JARNAC OU L'OBSCENE REPAS

£75.00

Paris: Surrealist group, 1959
27 x 21cm, 1pp black on light blue. Surrealist tract defending Andre Breton from (anonymous) attack within the pages of a revue "La Tour de Feu" which had published a special issue on Artaud.  The title of the tract - "Le Coup de Jarnac" refers to a crippling blow to the back of the opponent's exposed knee or calve as a sneaky mode of attack first utilized by a monsieur Jarnac during duelling. Signed in print by over 30 surrealists including Lebel, Mayoux and Silva amongst others (but not Breton for obvious reasons). Formerly folded into 4 and minor fading along those mild creases but a lesser-known public statement from the Surrealist Group.
