ZUM BAUHAUSFASCHING

£595.00

Weimar: Bauhaus-Universitat, 1930
Triangular when folded - approx 15 x 8cm, unfolded 32 x 14cm, orange and black on white paper. An example of Bauhaus community design by an unknown hand but in the recognisable house style - the all, to promote one of a number of traditional 'Karnivals' common in that part of Germany - such public events having a radical tradition: there being an equality between all taking part since the class origins of participants were hidden by the costumes. This leaflet/broadside has been designed to be folded to create a triangle and is a sophisticated piece of design with very strong typographic elements. Some tearing along one fold line and minor wear to edges and rubbed lettering in places. One part of the page in the centre is reinforced by additional paper. Otherwise very good and very rare.
