Julian Blaine

UNTITLED (DE BOIS VERT). UNIQUE WORK, 1992.

£1,250.00

Two panels. Each 80 x 60cm. Iris print on plastic. A concrete work ("dactylographie") originally conceived in 1956 and finally produced in this form in 1992. Blaine uses two found letters to create a new poetic work by crossing out the word leaving the poem "beneath" to be found from the debris of someone else's text. The poem reads thus:

ON PANEL 1:
de bois vert/chant du pays/les artisans/nature morte/julien blaine/allauch-ventabren 1956-1957-1958

ON PANEL 2:
Preface/je veux, comme le fleuve/mis déjà/je ne regretterai/la pensée concrete de l'/une musique visuelle/l'hallucination des objets/la sensation vegetale/fait deriver/le chariot

On the second panel handwritten in felt pen on back of the mount are the words: "dactylographié en 1956, corrigé en 1992 exposition "sortie de quarantaine", Roger Pailhas , Paris rue quincamopix. Pailhas was the gallerist who first showed the work. size is, for each 60 x 80

Both panels together comprise the work. The distressed aspect of the image was of course apparent on the original found letters - the works in this format are in fine estate.

Price for both panels together - 1,450 uk pounds
